Joyce Chiara, a gracious soul who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the age of 90.
Born on April 20, 1933, in Jersey City, NJ, Joyce was the cherished daughter of Joseph Leo Meehan and Anna Martin. She encountered the love of her life, Daniel, at a church dance in Jersey City. Their love story blossomed, leading to a union filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family.
Joyce's passions were as rich as her heart. She found immense joy in the culinary arts, delighting in the creation of delicious meals and sweet confections. Yet, her greatest devotion was always to her family. She poured her love into every aspect of their lives, ensuring they felt embraced and cherished in her presence.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel G. Chiara, and her siblings, Kathleen Gentile, Doris Liptak, Joseph Leo Meehan, and their spouses. She also joins her sister-in-law, Anna Fischer, and her husband, James Fischer, in eternal peace.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Adatto, and her husband, Eli, and her beloved son, Gerard Chiara. Her cherished grandson, Brian Adatto and his wife Jill. Brian was a constant source of joy and inspiration, bringing light into Joyce's life with his vibrant spirit and compassionate heart. They shared a special bond filled with love and cherished memories. Her loving granddaughters, Cindy Adatto, and Dawn McGhee and her husband, Mike. Joyce also leaves behind numerous adoring nephews and great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home (For GPS, please use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306). Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Anne's Church in Jersey City. Joyce will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
