Angelina Monte

Angelina L. Monte (nee Verga), 90, a life long resident of Jersey City, Marion Section passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.  

Angelina lit up the room when she entered, with a passion for singing and making people happy.  She was always ready to perform for a crowd, singing everything from opera to standards and once sang on the same stage as Sinatra.  She produced and directed shows for Hudson Catholic High School Mother's Guild, Jersey City.  Angelina was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a life long member of the choir.  She performed in the church operetta's and was also a Brownie Leader. She loved to cook and happily shared many home made recipes with family and friends. Angelina enrolled in courses at St. Peter's College and also bowled in numerous Jersey City leagues.

Angelina was an office manager and Notary Public for Russoniello, Esq., Jersey City and afterwards for Gironda & Doria Esq., Bayonne.  She also worked in finance for Square Park, Jersey City.

Angelina was the beloved wife of the late Anthony S. Monte and devoted mother of Anthony and his wife Lisa Monte.  Angelina was the loving daughter of the late Thomas and Vincentina "CeCe" Verga and the last surviving of the 7 Verga sisters.

Visitation is from RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07306 on Friday, September 30, 2016, 5:00pm to 9:00pm.  Funeral will begin on Saturday, October 1, 2016, 9:30am at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will follow 10:30am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City.  Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
