Antoinette "Nettie" Guarini

Antoinette "Nettie" Guarini (nee Salerno), 86, a proud lifelong resident of Jersey City, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  Nettie retired from the Jersey City Department of Health and Human Services.

A Democratic Committeewoman for 9 consecutive terms, Nettie was a Jersey City Ward B candidate on the late Jersey City Glenn D. Cunningham team.  A concerned community activist, she led surplus food distribution in the West Side Ward.  Nettie organized charity events for senior citizens, youth programs and also was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.

Nettie had a strong faith in God and instilled these beliefs in her 7 children.  Her greatest love was spending time with friends and family especially her grandchildren.

Nettie was the beloved wife of the late John J. Guarini, Jr.; devoted mother of John J. Guarini, III & wife Zelinda, Catherine Kennedy & husband Edward, Mary Rose Guarini Bodner, Antoinette Guarini-Gonzalez, Linda Sramowicz & husband Thomas, Jacqueline Guarini and the late Anthony J. Guarini; dear sister of Vincent and the late Frank Salerno, Grace Troncone, Catherine DeFazio, Rosalie Paez.  Also survived by 14 loving grandchildren, 16 loving great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3, 2017, 4:00pm to 9:00pm at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306 (www.riottofh.com).  Funeral will begin on Friday, August 4, 2017, 9:00am at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will follow 10:00am St. Aedan's Church, Jersey City.  Interment will take place at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
