Demetrios "Jimmy" Varianides

Demetrios Varianides, (Jimmy), 93, of Jersey City, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017.  Demetrios was born in Yerolakkos, Cyprus and lived most of his life in Jersey City.  He worked at Western Electric in Kearny, New Jersey when he was first married and later was in the diner business, a hairdresser and Real Estate agent.

Demetrios was a devout parishioner of Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, Jersey City and was a Parish Council member for many years.  He was a past President of the Cypriots of New Jersey and also The Cyprus Federation of America.  He was also a member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Jersey City Chapter and a Free Mason.

Demetrios was predeceased by his wife Maria Varianides.  Devoted Father of Georgia and husband Peter Karakatsanis, George and wife Stacey Varianides.  Loving grandfather of Maria, Ari and Natasha, Jamie and James, Jason and Alison.  Cherished great-grandfather of Zoe, Sophia, Lenna, Kassandra, Kalliope, Alexander, Tyler, Zeta and Manoli.  Dear brother of the late Maritsa.

Visitation from RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME (website: riottofh.com), 3205 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 6-9 PM, Trisagion 8 PM.  Funeral Mass Thursday, July 13, 2017, 10:00 AM  Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church.  Interment Bayview Cemetery, Jersey City.
