Jose Luis Avelar, age 53, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Jose was born in Zacatecoluca, El Salvator and has lived in Jersey City, NJ since the 1990's.

Loving husband of Marie (Escalante) Avelar; Beloved father of Luis Avelar and Cecilia Avelar; Cherished brother of Ricardo, Ann, Maria Elena, Angela, Julia, Lilian and Rosa. Jose is also surviived by numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 5 PM to 9 PM at RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Jersey City on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Family and friends are invited to gather at Riotto Funeral Home prior to Jose's mass, at 9:30 AM.
