Judy L. Raihofer

Judy L. Raihofer passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at age 74.  She was a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY, and recent resident of Jersey City, NJ. 

Judy was the proud mother of Lynda, Karen and Susan; mother-in-law of Ron Czajka, Randy Rutherford and Michael Shull; loving grandmother of Max, Kaitlyn, Cole, Aidan, Ryan, Jake and Kevin; devoted daughter of Mae Paradiso and Anthony Messeri; dear sister of Ray and Bob Paradiso; sister-in-law of Joyce and Linda Paradiso, and Mary and David Raihofer; and loving aunt.  She is predeceased by her former husband, Peter Raihofer. 

As a single working Mom she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in special education from Brooklyn College.  Mrs. Raihofer, recently retired, was respected as P.S. 97’s passionate 5th grade teacher for over thirty years.  She was the teacher students feared, then loved, and then never forgot.  Miss Judy was loved in P.S. 216 day camp, and as a woman of great faith, was a beloved CCD teacher and parishioner of Holy Rosary Church. 

Judy’s lessons of kindness, compassion, acceptance, forgiveness and love influenced the lives of all who were privileged to know her.  Judy’s passing is a profound loss. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the Riotto Funeral Home, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 11:00am at Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth Street, Jersey City, NJ, followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.  Memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Rosary Church, 344 6th St., Jersey City, NJ 07302 and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
