Maria D. Ortiz (Loly)

September 11, 1931 - January 18, 2017

God’s merciful love affirms the bond between the living and the dead.  Our mother Maria D. Ortiz (nee Morales) went to heaven to live with the Father. 

Maria was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico and has been a resident of Jersey City for more than 65 years.  Born to Tomas Morales and Ines Rolon, Maria came to New Jersey after finishing High School.  Maria was the beloved wife of the late Vicente Ortiz. She had retired from the Book-binder Company of Jersey City.  She was an active member of the Assumption-All Saint Catholic Church.

Maria is the loving mother of Anna M. Ortiz-Rivas and Vicente Ortiz, Jr. She is survived by her son in-law Jenaro Rivas; grand children: Sergio, Amarilis, and Zelideth; brothers: Benjamin Morales, Ramon Morales, Fidel Morales (Deceased), and Benito Morales (Deceased); sisters: Carmen and Lydia; sisters in-law; many nephews and nieces; and other members of her family and friends in the US and Puerto Rico.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Riotto Funeral Home, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, (201) 798-3100. Friends and family are invited to the Funeral Home at 10:00 AM prior to the Mass which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Assumption-All Saint Catholic Church, 344 Pacific Avenue, Jersey City, Phone: (201) 333- 1971.  Internment will follow at Holly Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
