Elly Harbas

Elly Harbas, 95, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. Elly immigrated to the United States from Ikaria, Greece in 1946 and lived in Jersey City for 70 years.  She was a parishioner of St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church here in Jersey City for many years.  She worked in the Fur Industry creating the lining and coats for women for forty years.  Elly was a strong person who kept her family and house together through any adversity.  Elly enjoyed gardening in her backyard.   She was known for planting roses.  

She was a dedicated mother to her 3 children, Stephen Harbas, Sophia Harbas and Vanna Frosoni. Devoted grandmother of Nicholas Demetriades and Sophia Frosoni.  She is predeceased by her siblings, Mary and Mario; her late parents, Gus and Sophia Diamantides 

Visitation is Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS navigation it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street).  Funeral will begin on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery,  742 Rutherford Ave, Lyndhurst, NJ.
