Audrey Gregory

Audrey Gregory (nee Bessoir) 91, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 18, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. A Jersey City native, she later moved to Union where she would reside for the rest of her life.  Audrey was the devoted and loving mother of four children.  After raising her family, she began her professional career at her alma mater, Dickinson High School in Jersey City.  She spent 25 years as a secretary in the Athletic Department where she worked diligently and was well respected. When you needed something done, you asked Audrey!

She is survived by her four children, Michael, Janet, Jane and James, her grandchildren Maribeth, Daniel, Rachel, Alexandra, Vanessa, JJ, the late Ricky, Adam and Joseph and her great grandchildren Alexander, Vanessa, Madison and Sommer.

Audrey was married for 72 years to her high school sweetheart Paul, who left her only four short months ago.  They had a close circle of dear friends with whom they enjoyed many happy years of dining, dancing, poker and frequent trips to Atlantic City. One of Audrey’s greatest lifelong pleasures was reading a good book!  She and Paul were well known and loved by the staff at the Union Public Library.

Audrey was beautiful both inside and out, always impeccably dressed, kind, friendly and selfless.  There was nothing she would not do for her loved ones. She was blessed to live a long, healthy and happy life and we were blessed to have her as our mother.
