Catalina Ibe Guinto, age 76, of Jersey City, NJ, entered eternal rest after a struggle with cancer, surrounded by her family in New York City, NY on 22nd of April 2018.
Fondly known as Lina, she was the second to the youngest daughter of Balbino Ibe and Dionisia Martinez Ibe, born in Arayat Pampanga, Philippines on 6th of January 1942. She was a mother of three children from her first marriage to Catalino Lim. She migrated from the Philippines to the United States in 1984, and then married Luisito Guinto in 1985.
Lina selflessly sacrificed all to accomplish her vision of bringing her children to America. In 1996, Lina lived her ultimate dream of finally welcoming her children to America and be reunited with them once again as a family. Lina was a loving and doting mother, even more so as a grandmother to her young grandchildren. She was also a second mom to countless more, including her work colleagues at Chanel, Inc., where she served for more than 31 years.
She will be remembered as a kind-hearted, peaceful, extremely generous and a loyal person. As an introvert, she loved being around relatives and close friends for rounds of mahjong games, listening to music, laughter and sharing humorous stories. At home, she enjoyed watching light entertainment such as the Filipino Channel and Dancing With The Stars, or playing Candy Crush. She had a green thumb particularly with orchids, and talented in the kitchen. Lina was an angelic human being and will be terribly missed by all.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the team at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
