Deacon Clod Leonida

Deacon Clod M. Leonida, 68, of Jersey City, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  Deacon Clod was born in Boac, Marinduque, Philippines and moved to Jersey City in 1988.

Deacon Clod was a teacher for 47 years, taught at St. Nicholas School in Jersey City for the last 29 years, and retired last year.  He has mentored and taught students in the Philippines and Yemen Arab Republic. Deacon Clod had a MAT degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Arts.  He was devoted to all of his students and treated them all with love and like his own children.  Teaching was his vocation.  His dedication to service was exemplary as was his volunteer work with his community and with the late Saint Mother Theresa.

Deacon Clod was the beloved husband of 42 years to Elisa (Tahanlangit); devoted father of Claudeen Leonida Snair and Mark Leonida and father-in-law to Mark's wife, Rosalie; cherished grandfather of Jasmin, Jessica, Brian and Joy; loving and dedicated brother to his siblings, especially to Jun M. Leonida, and brother-in-law of Marissa (Tan); uncle of Nicole and Erika Leonida. He is also survived by many loving relatives and dear friends in the U.S. and the Philippines.

Reception and viewing of Deacon Clod will take place at St. Nicholas Church (corner of Central Ave. & Ferry St., Jersey City) on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, 2:00pm to 8:00pm and a wake service will be at 7:00pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 11:00am with a final viewing before from 10:00am to 10:45am.  Entombment will follow at Holy Name Mausoleum, Jersey City.
