Domenick N. D’Alessandro, 80 of Bayonne, formerly of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2019 at Bayonne Medical Center. Born September 4, 1938 in downtown Jersey City, to immigrant parents, the late Antonio & Carmela (nee: DiMario) D’Alessandro, he was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Rosary Church and the voice of the downtown neighborhood.
Dom was always offering a helping hand where needed. He was a true Democrat working on many campaigns supporting candidates who would help the people of Jersey City & Hudson County. He lived by the slogan, “People Helping People”. He encouraged the youth to stay in school, helped them find jobs and was always there to offer advice in attempt to mold them into fine young men and women. He ran the Youth Program at Grace Church, was involved with Downtown Little League, was active with the Columbus Day Parade Committee and Gala's and was President of the D’Alessandro Civic Association. He worked for the Jersey City Water Department under the Cucci Administration and was the Owner/Operator of D&D Leasing. Domenick was a true community activist, who loved downtown Jersey City, loved his family and friends and devoted his life to taking care of anyone he could. He loved the simple pleasures in life; being in the sun, crabbing, fishing, a nice glass of wine and living life to its fullest. His loss is a great loss to Jersey City, but he leaves behind a legacy that not many can compete with and more importantly, he leaves behind memories that bring a smile and laugh to everyone he’s touched.
He is the cherished husband of Rosalie (nee: Avoglia), beloved father of Tracy Weber & her husband, Dave (JCPD), Anthony D’Alessandro, Domenick D’Alessandro & his wife, Suzanne & Denise D’Alessandro, dear brother of Frank D’Alessandro & his wife, Marie & the late Aurelio “Billy” D’Alessandro. He is the proud and loving grandfather of Michael Martucci (JCPD), Olivia Weber, Angela, Matthew & Isabella D’Alessandro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
