Frances Catherine (Priore) Fitzgerald

Frances Catherine Fitzgerald (nee Priore), 73 of Jersey City, entered her eternal rest on March 3, 2019. Born July 30, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Vincent James Priore and Emma Priore (nee Melone), she was a lifelong resident. Frances spent a life of service in her home town through work with the Hudson County Prosecutors Office, and several positions within the Archdiocese of Newark from where she retired in 2013. Loved and admired for charitable works, Frances served as head of Holy Rosary Jersey City’s Social Concerns committee, as a Bereavement Counselor, and committee member for the Holy Rosary’s annual parish feast (La Festa Italiana). Frances was most proud of her work with the First Saturday Club thorough which she served as an aide to people with disabilities on annual pilgrimages to the Canadian shrines of Norte Dame du Cape, and Saint Anne de Beupre. She also accompanied the group to the Vatican and the Holy Land in 1987.

Frances is survived by her sons Vincent John and his wife Gemma Fitzgerald (née Cuicci), Sean Patrick Fitzgerald, and Brian Richard Fitzgerald and his wife Kathleen Fitzgerald (née D’ Albenzio). She is predeceased by grandson, Michael, and survived by grandchildren Justin, Emily, Aedan, Gavin, Connor, and Shannon, and is also survived by siblings Carmine Priore and sister Cathy Ann LaBruno.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and loved by many cousins. Her memory will be honored and cherished by a multitude of friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Co., 3205 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ. (For GPS use 14 Stagg Street)  Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home then to Holy Rosary Church, 344 Sixth St., Jersey City, NJ for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.   Cremation will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to the COPD foundation in her memory.
