Lori Hennessey (nee: Sorrentino), 46 of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on May 15th at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 30, 1971 in Belleville, she lived most of her life in Jersey City. She was a beloved Pre-K Teacher for PS 28 for the past 12 years, a job that she absolutely loved. Lori was an active member of the Jersey City Community. She was recently honored as PS 28 School Teacher of the Year, Italian Educator of the Year - Columbus Day Parade Committee 2017 & Jersey City Police Emerald Society Irish Woman of the Year 2012. She also served as Committee Woman in Country Village from 2005-2013.
She is the loving wife of Mark Hennessey (JCPD), beloved mother of Alyssa & Rachel, cherished daughter of Patrick & Roselyn (nee: Evans) Sorrentino, dear sister of Lt Darren Sorrentino (JCPD), James Sorrentino & his wife, Christine & Debbie Moloughney & her husband, Mark. Her “in-laws”, who were more like her own family, also survive her. Her father in law, Kevin Hennessey and siblings; Kevin Hennessey (JCFD) & his wife, Sylvia & Jeffrey Hennessey (JCPD) & his wife, Cathy & Linda Nuzzi & her husband, Kenny. She also leaves behind her nieces & nephews who she adored, innumerable friends, students and parents who loved her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Co. (RiottoFH.com), 3205 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 99 Broadway, Jersey City at 11:30 a.m. Entombment to follow Mass services at Holy Name Mausoleum, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City.
