Michael Robert Reimer

Michael Robert Reimer, 42, of Jersey City and formerly of Staten Island, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018.

Michael was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He attended Regis High School in Manhattan, before attending St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and American Studies. He then went on to receive his Masters in Higher Education at Fairfield University in Fairfield Connecticut. 

Michael achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America at the age of 17.  He worked as a program director for Camp Awosting in Morris, Connecticut for many years.  After College, Michael worked as a Middle School Teacher at the Academy of St. Dorothy’s in Staten Island, NY, before becoming the Dean of Student Services at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City.  Michael was an avid New York Yankees and College Basketball Fan. He was a devoted family man, and thoroughly enjoyed being involved with, and watching his children play sports. Michael had a larger than life personality and will be missed dearly.

Michael is survived by his cherished bride: Jan Reimer; His beloved children: Mikayla, Abigail, and Aiden; His loving sisters: Cynthia Reimer, and Patricia Walters (Nee Reimer) and her husband Douglas. Also surviving are his in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Michael was predeceased by his parents: Robert H. Reimer, and Patricia Simmons Reimer.

A Visitation for Michael will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Riotto Funeral Home (For GPS use address 16 Stagg St., Jersey City).  Friends and family are also invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at 11:00 AM, where a religious service will take place at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Michael’s family to support the future of his children
