Santo Maimone

Santo Maimone, 82, of Wayne, NJ, formerly of Patti Sicily, Italy, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

It is with both sadness and contentedness that we share with my friends and family of the passing of my father, Santo Maimone, 82 years old, after battling illness for some time. He passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, six days following the one year anniversary of my mother (9/27/18). I am confident that he is in heaven with her, as my Mother would have pulled all kinds of strings to welcome him home personally! Out of great love, she also did everything in her power to give him comfort and love while here on earth, including putting her own needs always before his; what a wonderful tribute to prayer and love that helps to secure someone's salvation in heaven--pointing them in the direction of Christ's teachings on how to love effectively! Keep on praying and loving as Christ would have us love, my friends! My father was always the life of the party growing up; he was also very fond of the outdoors/nature and animals...Our love of animals, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, chickens, etc. came about because he welcomed them to our home, including building shelters for them in our backyard, or assisting our neighbors in the feeding and caring of theirs. It is fitting that he would pass away on the death of Saint Frances of Assisi (10/3/19), the patron saint for animals and ecologists, and that today (10/4/19) is the feast day for Saint Frances of Assisi. Ironically, I had just left his side to serve as a "chaplain" for a member of my church who was at another hospital when my older sister called to let me know he passed at 10:21 am. My father received comfort care a few days before he passed; and my siblings and I were by his side for several days. This was additional confirmation for me that some of us are called as pastors, and others chaplains, and at times, we must chose to understand where God is calling us to serve. Please keep us in your prayers, but also know we rejoice in the promises of Jesus teachings of our eternal salvation! God's peace and grace be with you all. Funeral will be on Saturday, October 5, 2019, from 11:00 a.m at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ, 07306 (For GPS is best to use parking lot address: 14 Stagg St.). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ, 07031.
