William Francis Dietz

William Francis Dietz, 69, of Jersey City, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Bill was an incredibly loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend; but above all, he was a devoted father who spent every moment during the latter part of his life going above and beyond for his children. His charm and personality were magnetic. He could always be counted on to light up a room with dad jokes and laughter. Although he left us too soon, his memory will forever live on through the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known this wonderful man.

Bill was a proud Vietnam veteran who returned and continued to serve in the U. S. Army Reserves where he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring in 1998. He worked 31 years for the New York State Office of Court Administration, mainly as a Senior Court Clerk at NYS Civil Supreme Court. He was Cubmaster of his son’s Cub Scout pack in Jersey City for several years, and he was on the board of directors of Washington Park Little League. He loved baseball.

Bill is survived by his wife Susan and 3 children Stephanie Metcalf, Nora, and Matthew.

A very short flag ceremony will take place on Friday, September 8, 2017, 3:00 pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Chesterfield Arneytown Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey 08562, http://www.nj.gov/military/cemetery/general-information/
