Alberto "Gypsy" Cruz

Our beloved father, Alberto "Gypsy" Cruz, passed away surrounded by the love and support of his family. A man of many talents and passions, Alberto brought joy and warmth to everyone he met.

For eight years, our dad lived with his cancer diagnosis and was determined to enjoy life as much as he could. In spite of the cancer, treatments, and chemotherapy, he continued to do the things he loved. We were always amazed at how he would display a heroic level of strength and push through the pain and limitations the disease created.

Alberto found immense pleasure in the simple joys of life. Barbecuing was one of his favorite pastimes during the summer. He loved to dance to Freestyle music and play dominoes with his friends. “Gypsy” is mostly known for his legendary days on Bay Street with a Budweiser in one hand and a joint in the other, enjoying life unapologetically. 

Cooking was not just a skill but an act of love for Alberto. He delighted in preparing meals for his family. His culinary creations were more than just food; they were expressions of his love and a way to bring everyone together.

Alberto is survived by his two daughters, Shivonne and Euphemia, his son Ruben, his ex-wife Nancy, and his beloved grandchildren: Tiarah, Tanajah, Zariyah, Aziyrah, and Izaiyah. His love for his children and grandchildren was boundless, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the wonderful memories he leaves behind. Alberto's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
