Angel M. Ortiz

Angel Manuel Ortiz was born to Joaquin Ortiz of Orocovis, Puerto Rico and Ramona Albaladejo, of Corozal, Puerto Rico on April 19, 1951, in Corozal, Puerto Rico.

He graduated from Manuel Bou Gali High School in Corozal, Puerto Rico in 1969 and shortly thereafter, he moved to the Bronx, New York in pursuit of a better life. He eventually relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey where he and his wife Maria purchased a home in which he lived until his final day.

Angel met his wife Maria Elena Ortiz in 1988. They were married on July 23rd, 1988. Together they shared 4 children: Yvette Ortiz-Beaumont and Angel Ortiz from Angel’s previous marriage; Maria Ortiz, born to their union; and Carlos Marcelo Nevada from Maria’s previous marriage.

Angel enjoyed fishing, crabbing, cooking, and bartending his family’s parties, playing dominoes, watching the local horseraces at the Meadowlands Arena, and cheering on his forever baseball team, the New York Yankees. 

Angel is survived by, his loving wife of 34 years, Maria Elena Ortiz; his caring sister, Maria Rivera, whom he spoke to at least once a week and her husband, Agapito Rivera; his brother, Francisco Ortiz who resides in Puerto Rico; his devoted daughter, Yvette Ortiz Beaumont and her husband, Chad Beaumont; his youngest daughter, Maria Ortiz and her fiancée Darnell Jones; his son Angel Ortiz; his stepson Marcelo Naveda; granddaughters Victoria Karis and Vanessa Karin Beaumont and Yvani Emma and Alani Danielle Jones as well as a grandson, Alan Naveda. He also leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his paretns, Joaquin Ortiz and Ramona Albaladejo, his mother-in-law, Regina Manobanda, and brother-in-law, Juan Poras.

Angel, affectionally known by his family and closest friends as Angelo, will be missed but never forgotten.

The family has entrusted Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company with the arrangements. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, November 11, 2022, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306 (For GPS Navigation, it is best to use our parking lot entrance address: 14 Stagg St., Jersey City)..  A private homegoing will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
