Anita Michelle Sanchez, affectionately known to many as a loving and selfless individual, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at Jersey City Medical Center. Born on October 8, 1977, in Jersey City, NJ, Anita spent her entire life in the community she deeply cherished.
Anita was the beloved daughter of Alberto and Donna Sanchez (Scott). She is survived by her devoted children, Melody Diane Sanchez and Alexander Isaiah Cabrera, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Luna and Leo Montanez Sanchez, who were her greatest joys. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Albert Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, and Gregory Sanchez (Cary, sister-in-law). Anita was a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews: Savanna, Jaida, Kobi-Lee, Jeremy, Nate, Ava, and Aidyn. She is also survived by her loving boyfriend, Calvin Ford, whose unwavering support and care brought her comfort and joy.
Anita’s life was marked by compassion and service. She worked tirelessly as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for many years before transitioning to serve her community as a Jersey City crossing guard. Her dedication to her work was rivaled only by her passion for music and her unconditional love for her family.
Known for her loving, selfless, and determined spirit, Anita’s kindness touched everyone who knew her. Despite her battle with colon cancer, she embraced life with a radiant smile and unwavering strength, remaining a pillar of support for her children and grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Anita’s life at a visitation on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home (for GPS, please use the parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306).
