Ann (nee Paraskevas) Luciano, 92, passed away on October 19, 2024, at Sunrise Senior Living in Edgewater.
Born on February 3, 1932, in Jersey City to Stephanos and Dionysia Paraskevas, immigrants from Asia Minor and the island of Limnos, she was the youngest of five children. Ann grew up in Downtown Jersey City, attended Ferris High School, and later went to secretarial school.
She was predeceased by her four siblings and their spouses: Helen (Robert), James, Lillian (William), Elain (George), and a nephew, Alkis.
After graduation, Ann was employed by Guy Carpenter at the World Trade Center as a keypunch operator. She retired in 1997 as a supervisor. A deeply religious member of Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church in Jersey City, she was a devoted member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher, a caller for Bingo, and a Philoptochos member.
In 1973, Ann and her husband, the late Dominik Luciano, moved to Staten Island. Their condo was within walking distance to the Staten Island Ferry, which they took to work in Manhattan. It was during this time that she became a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Staten Island. Ann was an active member of the Philoptochos and volunteered at annual church festivals. She was also a member of the Staten Island Senior Citizen Center, where she took many day trips and called Bingo.
She enjoyed traveling to Greece, especially to the island of Limnos with her cousin Peg, where her mother was born. They also visited the Holy Land and relatives in Athens. Ann traveled to Las Vegas and took a cruise to Alaska. She loved to shop, crochet, and play Bingo.
Ann was especially fond of her trips to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, to visit cousin Peg's family. A few years ago, her last trip was to attend the wedding of her Godchild, Amanda. Ann was a dedicated aunt to her six nieces: Annelaine (Alkis), Denise, her primary caregiver, Lorraine (Arnold), Elyse (Anthony), Barbara (Bill), and Crissy Ann (Richie). She was a great aunt to Gabriel (Karen), Tiffany (Dean), Anthony (Meaghan), Stephen, Brandon, and Gabriel, and a great-great aunt to Lillian, Janine, and Liam. She is also survived by many devoted friends in Staten Island, whom she was grateful for and loved.
Ann was a kind, sweet, and generous lady who will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation is on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, 661 Montgomery St., Jersey City, NJ 07306.
