Antonio Torrillo
November 12, 1932 – March 4, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Antonio Torrillo, who left this world peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 92.
Antonio was born on November 12, 1932, in Pietraroja, Benevento, Italy, where he spent his early years and met the love of his life, Caterina Torrillo, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. He briefly worked in Switzerland before immigrating with his family to Jersey City, NJ, in 1967, where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to family.
Antonio was the beloved son of Tommaso and Pasqualina Torrillo. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Caterina, his brothers, Nicola, Michele, Francesco, and Giovanni, and his sisters, Lucia, Vittoria, and Maria.
He leaves behind a loving legacy in his daughter, Lina Gianella, and son, Thomas Torrillo. He was a proud and devoted Nonno to Anthony Gianella and Erica Santangelo, who, along with her husband Joseph, will forever cherish his memory.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Antonio spent 30 years with NJ Transit before retiring. He embraced life’s simple pleasures—he was an early riser, always beginning his day with a cup of espresso and a shot of Cognac. His passion for cooking, gardening, winemaking, and preparing homemade tomato sauce brought him great joy, and he delighted in sharing these traditions with his family.
Antonio was a selfless, generous man who always put his family first. His kind heart and unwavering willingness to help those in need made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home (For GPS, please use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306). Antonio’s love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Caterina.
