Arthur Brown Obituary

Arthur R. Brown, 88, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in New York City, New York. Born in Jersey City, Arthur lived a life marked by dedication to family, professional excellence, and a deep appreciation for travel and shared experiences.

At the heart of Arthur’s life was his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann Brown (Morrissey), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion until her passing. Together they raised a family that brought them immense pride and joy. Arthur is remembered by his children: Annemarie Taylor and her husband Scott; Rosemary; Robert and his wife Paula; Jane; and Michael and his wife Nan. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren, Christopher, Stephen, Maria, and Matthew each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Arthur also leaves behind his sister-in-law Maureen and many cherished nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends who will remember him fondly. He was predeceased by his parents John and Rose Brown; his brothers John and William; and his close cousin Richard.

Arthur graduated from St. Peter’s Preparatory High School in Jersey City before earning his degree from the University of Maine in Bangor. His academic pursuits later led him to the prestigious Harvard Advanced Management School in Cambridge, where he further honed the leadership skills that would define his career.

Arthur’s professional journey was distinguished by hard work and integrity. His education laid the groundwork for a career marked by dedication and leadership. He earned the respect of unions, employees and colleagues alike. His work took him across the globe through Western and Eastern Europe and Asia including England, Ireland, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Vietnam, Colombia, Trinidad, India (where he celebrated the wedding of friends), and Dubai (where he even rode a camel). These travels were not only professional milestones but also opportunities to build lifelong friendships.

Arthur’s enthusiasm for sports was lifelong. He attended numerous New York Football Giants games, along with a few Patriots and Panther  games and shared unforgettable moments with his sons at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. These events were more than pastimes; they were traditions that bonded generations.

Family adventures were especially dear to Arthur. From summers at Pleasant Pond in Maine surrounded by family and longtime friends to vacations across the United States including the Jersey Shore, Vermont, Cape Cod - Chatham, Ocean City (MD), Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, Cocoa Beach, Savannah, Disney World and Disneyland and beyond to Hilton Head, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Quebec, the Florida Everglades and Miami Beach. Arthur found joy in creating lasting memories with those he loved most.

He and Elizabeth embraced city life most of the year but treasured their time at Pleasant Pond during the summers with family, neighbors and friends, around the lake. The Brown family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the L’Ecole Building, past and present for their friendship and care over the years. Special thanks to Rosemary for the devoted care and company she provided Arthur for his last five years.
