Basilisa "Basy" Torres-Ortiz

Basilisa ‘Basy’ Torres-Ortiz, 84, known by her grandchildren as “Mami Basy”, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Patillas, Puerto Rico she then moved to Brooklyn, NY, where her children were born and raised. Additionally, later moving to Jersey City, NJ where the majority of her life was spent raising her younger children and caring for her grandchildren. 
 
Basilisa was a devoted and loving mother. Who had an enormous heart, very giving, and delightful. She enjoyed sewing, music, and dancing. Opened her home to anyone she encountered and received them with open arms. She loved the holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. She will be remembered for her strength, missed by many, and never forgotten.
 

Basilisa was predeceased by her parents, Prudencia Soto and Isidro Ortiz, sister Reyita Santana, daughter Marisol Torres, and her grandchildren; Joanne Rivera and Romy Jamel Villilo. She is survived by her 8 loving children, Migdalia Torres, Jose Torres, Wanda Torres, Maribel Torres, Mildred Torres, Marcus Torres, Felix Torres, and Catherine Maldonado. Grandchildren; Wanda “Bee-Bee”, Joyce, Alex, Chris, Heriberto, Millie, Jessica, Jellisa, Gregory-Jason, Marcus, Anthony, Noel, Inez, Crystal, Naomi, Marc Anthony, Sasha, Haley, and Hiran-Felix. Great grandchildren; Nyasia, Jordan, Shania, Deja, Jada, Nyla, Janessa, Jaylynn, Pascual Jr, Rylan, Isabella, Kayla, Jayla, and Nova.

On angels wings you were taken away, but in our hearts you will always stay. We love you, Mom. Rest In Peace.
