Brenda L. Aragon
February 23, 1945 – March 24, 2026
Brenda L. Aragon, a devoted educator, loving aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Born on February 23, 1945, in Sta. Cruz, Manila, Philippines, Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Apolinar and Dolores (née Lectura) Aragon.
Brenda dedicated much of her early life to education in the Philippines teaching at Santa Catalina College, St. Loreto School, St. Joseph’s College, and UST Angelicum College. In 1984, she immigrated to the United States and made Jersey City her home. There, she built a long and successful career in the banking industry, working for over 20 years, including with Bank of America. Later in life, she returned to teaching serving students at St. Patrick/Assumption All Saints School and St. Aedan’s Grammar School.
Brenda was a woman of deep compassion and generosity, always ready to help others without expecting anything in return. She had a thoughtful spirit and never forgot a birthday or anniversary, often sending handwritten cards that brought joy to many. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures from watching WWE wrestling and The Bachelor, solving word search puzzles, praying novenas, and especially sharing Sunday lunches with Mary and Chris.
She is survived by her loving siblings Rizaria, Olga, Aris, Reva, Edezer, and Mildred; and her cherished nieces and nephews Mary, whom she lovingly raised as her own, Van, Thea, Jomil, Jolean, Edeline, and Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Aragon.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Peace Care St. Joseph’s for the exceptional care and companionship they provided during the final months of Brenda’s life.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ (For GPS parking, please use: 14 Stagg Street). Entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Ave., Jersey City.
Brenda’s life was a testament to faith, love, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
"When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be..." ~ The Beatles
