On February 24th, our devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and sister-in-Christ, Carmen Barraza-Parra, 89, went home and is in her Lord’s loving arms. She was surrounded by her children, Janette, Edwin and Nancy; sister, Josefa; nieces, Griselda, Monica and Deisy. She was dedicated and loyal to her Lord and church, Iglesia de Dios on Hopkins Avenue, for 48 years.
Carmen was blessed to have a loving family and brothers and sisters in Christ. She was loving, thoughtful, visited many in need, got herself wherever she needed to go, sweet, resourceful, and a true friend to many. She always wanted everyone to eat and if there was nothing ready to eat, she made something quick. She was a body in motion, learned to drive at 50, and always landed on her feet. Befriending many, always loyal, she took many into her home. As a deep well of love and faith in humanity, she had a great devotion to God and applied herself to His work.
Carmen loved her parents: Griselda Egea Jimenez and Clemente Barraza; her siblings: Ana Barraza-Palacio, Victor, Bernardina, Eduardo (who preceded her home by a month), Manuel, and Josefa; her husband: Tobias Parra-Flores; her children: Janette Parra-Moreno, Edwin and Nancy, her grandchildren: Julian Moreno, Melanie Moreno and Melissa Moreno; her nephews and nieces: Anthony Celis, Bernardo Celis, Francisco Mendoza, Ninfa Celis-Meehan, Victor Hugo Barraza, Griselda Mendoza-King, Jose Luis Barraza, Liseth Barraza Perez, Javier Barraza, Vivian Barraza Napoles, Omar Barraza, Fidel Barraza, Monica Barraza-Wenham, Diana Barraza, Deisy Barraza and Victor Manuel Barraza; her great-grandson, Luke Moreno and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.
