Carmen Maria Rivera

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carmen Maria Rivera, age 91, of Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 4, 2023. Carmen was born in Puerto Rico, and as a young woman moved to New York City to seek the American dream. She and her loving husband Oscar and family later settled in Jersey City. Carmen loved to laugh with her family, dance, listen to music, cook, horses and loved the sweet sound of chirping birds.  

Carmen is the beloved wife of the late Oscar Rivera; loving mother of Sandra & husband Oscar Soto, Magdalena & husband Ricardo Quijano, Carmen & husband Royal Janssen, and Lucy & husband James Cordero. Also survived by 7 loving grandchildren, 2 cherished great grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street).  Funeral mass is at 11:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 14 Greenville Ave., Jersey City.   Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, 320 Ridge Road, N. Arlington.
