Catalina Santiago

Catalina Santiago (nee Velazquez Toro), 91, of Jersey City, and formerly of Lajas, Puerto Rico, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Peace Care St. Joseph's, Jersey City. 

Catalina was predeceased by her husband, Juan Santiago, and her beloved daughter, Ana Luisa Sanchez. She is survived by her loving daughter, Vicky Dernbach (nee Santiago) and her husband Robert, son in-law, Donato Sanchez, and her cherished grandchildren, Ramon Sanchez, Juan Jose Sanchez, Jonathan Dernbach, and Christopher Dernbach. 

- My mom, after becoming a widow, became the most devoted mother to my sister and I. We were never deprived of anything. As we became adults and she got older, our roles changed and my sister and I became her caretakers. We spoiled her unbelievably in every way that you could imagine. She will be dearly missed. 

Visitation is Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home (for GPS, please use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg St., Jersey City, NJ 07306). A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Jersey City. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass on Thursday. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
