Chrispino Coviello Obituary

Chrispino Coviello, 90, passed into new life leaving a legacy of love and life that deeply touched so many lives.  Crispino was born to Luigi and Concetta Coviello who emigrated from the Benevento region of Southern Italy. He was an innovator who loved life and lived it well. ‘Crispy’ was a self-taught scholar in many areas, a genius mechanic and aeronautical engineer, well-versed in politics, an avid nature lover/bird watcher, sharp card player, culinary lover, fabulous host and traveller.  He was a Jersey City native who had many friends with crazy nicknames and great stories of the neighborhood.  In the service, he was with the elite Flying Tigers and his intellect navigated through many tense situations.  He introduced landmark projects in his lead role during his years at the Housing Authority and was gifted in all trades, always giving his gifts freely to restore, fix or build for a friend/family member in need. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and hunting with buddies in Egg Harbor and continued these passions into retirement on Florida’s West Coast, where he made another home and great friends. He was honest, hard-working, fair minded, easy-going, loyal and proud of his Italian American heritage.  He enjoyed healthy debates, pursuing knowledge and appreciating the good things in life.  He was a joy to behold who brought a hint of adventure to every situation. He was deeply loved, richly blessed and a joy to all who made his acquaintance.

Chrispino joins his parents and siblings John, Nicola, Louis Jr. and Antonette in eternal rest,  He is survived by his son Chris Metrick and wife Joyce, his lifelong love Mary Cerreto, sister-in-law Yolanda Coviello and many devoted nieces, nephews and close friends.

No services, just raise a glass in his honor.  Sincere thanks to the Hospice Care unit at Bay Pines VA hospital whose compassionate care was a tremendous blessing these last weeks.  Those who wish to donate can do so there or support a veteran cause of choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
