Christina Mastrogiovanni, age 86, of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2026. Christina was born on December 15, 1939 in Jersey City to the late Walter Erla and Nellie (nee Chmielowiec) Erla. She was raised in Jersey City and remained a lifelong part of the community she called home.
Christina worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Christ Hospital. Outside of work, she gave her time and heart to the Grace and Hope Mission, where she had been involved from a very young age. She also enjoyed going to garage and rummage sales; and was an avid tricky tray visitor. Christina will be remembered for her humble and gentle nature, her kindness, and her polite way with others. She also had a wry sense of humor and always appreciated a good joke.
Christina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Mastrogiovanni; her parents, Walter and Nellie Erla; and her siblings, John Erla, Lottie Erla, and Stella Krauss. She is survived by her caring siblings, Peter Erla and Agnes Erla; numerous loving nephews; one treasured great-nephew; and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to John W., Peter E., and all the nurses and aides at Hudson View Rehab for their care and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Riotto Funeral & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306.
