Corazon Z. Ngui, affectionately known to many as “Cora,” passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on June 16, 1928, in Andarayan, Solana, Cagayan, Philippines, she was the beloved daughter of Mariano and Primitiva.
Though her schooling was disrupted by the war, Corazon’s determination never wavered. As a young woman, she moved to Manila, where she worked as a salesgirl and met her future husband, Ngui Yek Hua. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five children—Teresita, Alberto, Bernardo, Charlie, and Debbie—instilling in them the values of hard work, family, faith, and joy.
With resilience and hope, Corazon immigrated to the United States, fulfilling a lifelong dream. There, she continued to be the heart and soul of her growing family. She was a proud mother, cherished grandmother, and joyful great-grandmother who delighted in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, sewing, cooking, and bargain-hunting, always with a twinkle in her eye.
Corazon was known for her quick wit and sense of humor, which could brighten even the darkest days. Even as time slowed her physically, her spirit never dimmed. She was the first to crack a joke, ready for the next family trip, and always full of love.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members who will continue to celebrate her legacy of laughter, strength, and unconditional love.
Corazon is now reunited with her beloved husband, parents, and those who have gone before her. We find peace in knowing she’s surrounded by love and laughter once more. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
