Daniel Almeida

Daniel Lopes Almeida 63, of Jersey City, NJ; formerly of Brava, Cabo Verde Islands entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Daniel arrived to the United States back in the winter of 1972, he was a young teen, along with his sisters, Eugenia and Isaura.  Daniel and his sisters joined their parents, who were already established in Jersey City, NJ. He quickly adapted to the American way of life and became an exceptional student at P.S. 16 in Downtown, Jersey City, where he gained the skill and love participating in wood-working.  Daniel excelled during his transition to James J. Ferris High School. This is where Daniel gained interest and secured his vocational trade in Auto Mechanics.  He graduated in 1979.   In his leisure time, you would find Daniel working on his father’s, neighbor or a close friend’s cars.  He also had a love of music, studying martial arts. He was a fan of the late, Bruce Lee as every young man like himself did during that time period.  Daniel had a very strong work ethic, which he inquired from his late father, Joao “Djone” Almeida.  This brought him to embark overseas as a Merchant Marine during the late 1980’s. On his return after a few years at sea, he found his true passion working in Auto Mechanics, for companies such as, BMW, Advanced Auto Parts and AMS Oil, where he started his entrepreneurial interest that continued for the next 30 + years.  During this time Daniel received his calling and converted to being Christian and devoted his life to Jesus Christ.  He studied Theology and loved expressing his passion in serving Christ. He was a devoted son to his loving mother, Maria and always displayed the love and peace amongst his sisters and his entire extended family, close friends and acquaintances. 

Daniel is survived by his loving mother, Maria L. Almeida, He was preceded in death by his father, Joao De Deus “Djone” Almeida, his loving sisters, Ana G. Baptista, the late Eugenia Almeida, Isaura Almeida, nephew, John J. Baptista, Jr, niece, Angelica Penha, Great-nephew, Xavier J. Baptista and step-daughter, Vanessa O’Brien. In addition, 8 aunts & uncles, the late Napoleon Rodrigues, Celeste Rodrigues, Adelina Rodrigues, the late Jose Rodrigues, Adelina(Vinda) Pires, Antonio(Nony) Rodrigues, Beatrice Santiago and Angelina Fortes.  He also leaves behind many loving cousins.

Visitation for Daniel is Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 8:00am – 10:45am at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS purposes it is best to use parking lot entrance address:  14 Stagg Street)  A Religious Service will also be offered here at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow immediately at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.
