David R. Pfleger, 65, passed away on January 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, humor, and deep love for his family and friends.
David was born on July 21, 1960, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Harold Pfleger and Helen Pfleger (Storms). He was raised in Jersey City, the place that shaped him and remained home for most of his life. Just eight months ago, David relocated to Keyport, New Jersey, where he spent his final months.
David was a man known for his rough and tough demeanor, but beneath that exterior was a heart full of kindness, laughter, and care for others. He loved to joke around, enjoyed making people laugh, and always made sure that everyone around him was okay. He was the kind of man who looked out for his people and stood by them without hesitation.
He found peace and joy in the simple things in life. David loved fishing, taking long walks, and watching Western movies and television shows. These quiet moments brought him comfort and happiness and reflected his appreciation for straightforward, honest living.
David is survived by his sons, Robert and David, and by his former wife, Sheila Malley. He is also survived by his sisters Patty, Linda, and Judy, and his brothers Billy and Ralph. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Helen Pfleger, and by his brothers Roy Pfleger and Richard Cole.
Family was always at the center of David’s life. He was a devoted father and a loyal friend, someone who could be counted on no matter the circumstance. His presence was steady, protective, and genuine, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne's Church, Jersey City, on Thursday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the family members and friends who helped look after David. Your care, kindness, and support will never be forgotten.
Dad, we will miss you and love you always. You were a great friend and a great father who always made sure everyone around you was okay. Your love and strength will live on in us forever.
