Dilfazil Mohamed

Dilfazil Mohamed ("Dilfaz"), 86, of Jersey City; formerly of Cap-de-Ville, Trinidad and Tobago; passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his caring family in the early hours of Saturday, May 29, 2021. Dilfazil was the oldest of 13 children who immigrated to the United States forty years ago to fulfil his own American dream. His life passion was to be a devoted husband, a loving father, and a provider to all four of his children. He was a hard worker and very proud of his many jobs throughout the years, especially being a Fire and Safety officer in New York City.

Dilfazil was the beloved husband of 60 years to Dulcie (nee Husain); caring father of Sharada Gregorio ("Sherry"), Riaz Miah ("Ringo"), Farah Mucerino ("Patty"), and Riad Miah; cherished father-in-law of Michael Gregorio, Kelcia Azevedo, Ralph Mucerino II, and Elizabeth O'Connell. Dilfaz was a loving and proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Ralph Edward Xavier Mucerino III, Nicholas Theodore Mucerino, Tristan Wyatt Mucerino, Demitri Garrick Mucerino, Marcus Julian Mucerino, Isabella Sophie Miah, Elisa Victoria Azevedo Miah, and Matthew Liam Azevedo Miah. 

Dilfazil was a charming, gentle, kind hearted, and friendly man who really enjoyed engaging with people. In addition to a good conversation, he also appreciated New York bagels, a good slice of pizza and an occasional celebratory glass of whiskey or wine. He will be forever missed and held in the hearts of his family and loved ones.

Visitation is Monday, May 31, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street.) Cremation will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dilfazil's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
