Dorothy Fisher Obituary

Dorothy Alice Fisher, 49, of Miami, FL left this world peacefully at her home in New Jersey on July 5, 2024.

Throughout her nearly three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma, she exuded the same positivity and love for life that defined her character while also showing immense courage, strength and compassion for fellow cancer patients she met along her journey.

Dorothy was well known for always being the life of the party and brightening everyone’s day.  However, her love of family and loyalty to friends was even more immense.  She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, daughter, aunt, best friend and godmother to many of her friends’ children. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Dorothy was a devout Yankees fan. She also held an intense passion for all things Wonder Woman, the Wizard of Oz, and Friends. She loved to plan vacations and explore all the wonders of the world, creating and collecting memories with her loved ones.

Dorothy transformed young lives as a Program Manager at Voices For Children Foundation.  Her career spanned 19 years and created countless friendships.  Always a phone call away, she inspired hundreds of children and young adults in foster care to embrace hope and resilience so that they may find a better path forward despite their past. Passionate for the cause, she also served as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer.

From childhood friends to strangers alike, Dorothy had an infectious laugh that would draw you in and make it impossible to not join her profound love for happiness and merriment. Dorothy lived life to the fullest, never taking for granted the beauty each day presented. She lived her best life, spreading love, laughter and adventure to all. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Mark Fisher; her Brother Ricardo Marin and his wife Rosanna Marin and nephews Kenneth Marin and Nicholas Marin; her sister Hilda Marin and nephew Fernando Fragoso and niece Susan Montalvo; and her father Luis Marin.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Marin.

In honor of her wishes for the forever home she was planning with her husband, Dorothy will be laid to rest at Bay Pine National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL.
