With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Durgesh A. Bhatt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on February 2, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Jersey City, NJ. Born on April 28, 1957, in Mumbai, India, Durgesh’s journey was one of resilience, love, and unwavering generosity.
At the age of 23, he embarked on a new chapter, moving to America to build a life filled with purpose and dedication. Through hard work and an unbreakable spirit, he created a home where love flourished, raising a beautiful family and touching the lives of so many. He was a steadfast pillar of support to those seeking a fresh start, helping dozens begin their lives in America with open arms and an open heart.
Durgesh’s passions were as deep as his kindness. He had an appreciation for all music, especially from the 1970s, a love that followed him throughout his life. A true gentleman at heart, he was an avid collector of fine jewelry and men’s fashion, from polished shoes to elegant suits. Beyond his personal interests, his greatest joy came from his family, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart. He was a stern but caring father, a grandfather full of warmth, and a man who always sought the silver lining in life’s trials. His loyal best friend, his dog Teddy, never left his side, a testament to the love he had for all those he held dear.
Durgesh is survived by his beloved wife, his two children, his cherished grandchildren, his two sisters, one brother, his son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and his faithful companion, Teddy. He now joins his parents, Anantrai and Rasila Bhatt, and his beloved sister, Sheila, in eternal peace.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rosedale Cemetery, West Orange, NJ. The family kindly welcomes flowers and donations to Shakti USA charity, an organization close to Durgesh’s heart.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our family, neighbors, and dear friends who stood by us in his time of need, offering unwavering support, kindness, and love.
"With his passing brings forth a new life, the life of his newest grandchild. Thank you, Durgesh, for the impact you had on all of our lives. May your soul rest in peace, and your spirit live forever."
