Eddie was born in Jersey City on May 24, 1961 to George C. Roselle, Jr. and Doris Roselle (nee Cox). He attended St. Anne School and Hudson Catholic High School, Class of 1980. Eddie served for a short period as a Hudson County Corrections Officer after which he joined the Jersey City Police Department where he served for 25 years until his retirement in 2012.
Eddie’s greatest joy came in coaching. He was a football coach at St. Peter’s Prep where he served as head coach of the freshman team for 20 years leading the team to several undefeated seasons and Freshman County Championships. He was an assistant coach of the varsity football team as well.
Ed’s great passion was wrestling. He coached the wrestling teams at SPP as well as Paramus Catholic High School. Hudson Catholic High School added him to the Wall of Honor as Best All Time Wrestler. For Ed, coaching was not so much the games and wins and losses. Rather it was in instilling in young men the skills and ideals to become better people. His joy was seeing the boys he coached grow into successful men, husbands and fathers. Eddie’s impact was such that many of his former players maintained contact with him throughout the years.
Eddie leaves his beloved wife, Nancyann (nee Witterschein), his loving brother George C. Roselle III and sister-in-law, Linda (nee Lavender) of Hillside, his adoring nephews, George C. Roselle IV, James Roselle , Patrick Roselle, Stephen Russell, Christopher Russell, Owen Russell, Louis Sammartino, Nicholas Sammartino and Jake Sammartino, his aunt Grace Wittman (nee Roselle) as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Eddie is predeceased by his parents and nephew, William Roselle.
