Emilio Ruiz

Emilio Ruiz, 71 of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021.  Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 3, 1950 to the late Emilio Ruiz & Victoria (nee: Rivera), he lived in Jersey City since he was a young boy.   In the 1970’s, Emilio was an avid amateur wrestler, having competed in several tournaments in the tristate area.  He was known as “The Gorilla”.   He had worked for many years as a Chef in the Hotel/Hospitality Industry in New York City, retiring 20 years ago.   He was the youngest of his siblings and was everyone’s favorite Uncle.

He is survived by his siblings: Maria “Titi” Bonilla, Juanita Lopez, Alejandro Ruiz, Alberto Ruiz, Raymond Ruiz, David “Tato” Ruiz & Maria “Tati” Gonzalez.  In addition, he is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Co., Jersey City, NJ.  (For GPS use 14 Stagg Street).   A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.  Cremation will take place privately.  For more information, please visit: www.RiottoFH.com
