Evangelia Kritsas, 97, of Jersey City; formerly of Kleinovos, Thessaly, Greece; passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021. Evangelia came to the United States in 1947 to be with her fiancé, Harry. She was very dedicated to her loving family; and her family will always remember her for taking pride in her home, cooking meals for her loved ones and dear friends, and crocheting doilies. Evangelia also prepared the lunches for the students of PS #11 and #23 here in Jersey City. She was a devout parishioner of the Evangelismos Greek Orthodox Church, Jersey City since 1948.
Evangelia is survived by her devoted daughters, Mary Kritsas and Georgia Kritsas; her caring sister, Merope Skopelitis (Greece), and by her loving nieces, nephews, and family members. She is predeceased in life by her husband, Harry; and by her parents, George and Efthalia Statiras.
Visitation is Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Trisagion will be offered during visitation. Funeral is Friday, February 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at Evangelismos Greek Orthodo Church, 661 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. (Due to CDC guidelines and to help combat Covid-19, the Church requests that all attendants to Envangelia's services please provide us with their names and addresses prior to Mass). Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, NJ.
