With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evangelina “Vangie” Cortez, who peacefully departed this life on February 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Surrounded by the quiet comfort of the grace she embodied throughout her life, she transitioned into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom.

Born on September 10, 1947, Vangie lived a life marked by quiet strength, love, and devotion. A longtime resident of Jersey City, she was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering care for those around her. She touched the lives of many through her kindness and generosity, always putting family first.

She is survived and deeply mourned by her brother, Wilfredo Cortez, who shared in her lifelong journey, along with a wide circle of extended family and dear friends. While her physical presence is no longer with us, the essence of who she was—her laughter, her counsel, and her boundless heart—will remain a treasure beyond measure.

An intimate memorial service with the urn present will be held at the funeral home, where family and close friends will gather to honor and celebrate her life.

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure; she is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” May she rest in eternal peace.
