Fred Moses Owens, lovingly known as Uncle Freddy, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on May 6, 1960, in the Bronx, NY, Fred was the cherished son of Samuel Owens Sr. and Romena Wiley. He grew up in the Bronx, laying the foundation for a life marked by love, service, and dedication. Later, he moved to Jersey City, NJ, where he spent most of his life.

Fred proudly served his country in the United States Military, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to helping others. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Iona College, setting the stage for a successful career as an accountant. Throughout his professional journey, Fred worked for various companies, always bringing integrity and dedication to his role.

Fred’s passions extended far beyond his career. He had a deep love for black-and-white movies and music, which brought joy to his days. His greatest joy, however, came from motivating and inspiring others. As a motivational speaker, Fred dedicated countless hours to encouraging youth to strive for excellence and reach their full potential.

Fred was a man of remarkable character, known for his loving, selfless, and determined spirit. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. With a heart full of joy and a radiant personality, Fred made it his mission to help anyone in need, embodying the true essence of a life well-lived.

Fred leaves behind a devoted family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Owens; his children, Bijan Owens and Kim Cox; his siblings, Carroll Wiley, Ronald Owens, Dick Owens and his wife Awilda, Melvin Owens, and his only sister, Romena Owens. His cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Brandon, and Dylan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Samuel Owens Sr. and Romena Wiley, and his brothers Samuel Owens Jr., Willie Frank Owens, and Marshall Wiley.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home (For GPS please use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Fred’s honor to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/donate. Your generosity will help continue Fred’s legacy of making the world a better place.
