Giovanna La Ganga
June 26, 1960 – July 5, 2025
Giovanna La Ganga, born on June 26, 1960, in Sicily, Italy, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. A longtime resident of Jersey City, New Jersey, Giovanna was known for her strong will, sharp humor, and the immense love she held for her family.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Rosetta and Giacomo La Ganga, and the cherished sister of Andrew La Ganga and Theresa Zamorski. She also held a special place in the hearts of her brother-in-law, Barry Zamorski, and her nieces Alexa Foxall and Nadia Zamorski, with whom she shared many joyful memories. Though she had no children of her own, Giovanna found great joy in the lives of her nieces, whom she adored dearly.
Giovanna’s life was a testament to quiet strength, deep care, and a loving spirit. Whether through her witty remarks or warm presence, she left a lasting impression on those around her. Her family will especially remember the deep bond she shared with them and the comfort she brought during life’s moments, big and small.
A memorial mass will be held in Giovanna's memory on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne's Church, 3545 John F. Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/).
As we mourn Giovanna’s passing, we take comfort in the words of prayer: “Lord God, you gifted our family with the life of our sister Giovanna. Our lives were changed by her death. Your heart goes out to each of us in our grief. You are near, you are here. You see sadness as we mourn, as we consider the empty place. Please fill the emptiness in our hearts with your presence and your touch. We shall remember our deceased loved one. Amen.”
