In Loving Memory of Gladys E. "Margie" Hernandez
It is with profound sadness that we announce our beloved Gladys Hernandez, has entered into eternal life on January 31, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Gladys later moved to Jersey City, where she attended Public School #37. To those who knew her best, she was affectionately called “Maria” by close family and friends. For 26 years, she was a dedicated and cherished receptionist at the medical office of Dr. Hosay. Patients and colleagues alike revered her for her warm personality, unwavering patience, and down-to-earth spirit.
Gladys found joy in cooking for her family, taking long road trips with close friends, and, in later years, enjoying quiet moments with her pets who she loved dearly. She lived life on her own terms, unapologetically—a sentiment she carried proudly in the words tattooed on her skin: Soy Así.
She is survived by her siblings: Ricardo, Antonio, Angel and David, Zaida and Denise; her lifelong friend Tony, her three loving daughters—Lupe, Jennie, and Gladys—her grandchildren—Dylan, Andrew, Julian, Victoria, Ciarra, Selena, Jeremiah, and Sophia—as well as 12 beautiful great-grandchildren who will aim to carry her love forward. In addition she is survived by her loving nieces and nephews Ricardo Jr. Anthony, Monica, Steven, Francis. Justin and Christina, Jose, Felix and Milena and each one of her great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Ramona Otero Bonilla, her brother Hector, and her sisters, Elba & Marisol and her dear niece Tracy.
Gladys will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Cremation is private.
