With great love and deep sorrow, the Omay family announces the passing of Gregorio “Lolong” Omay Jr., the cherished patriarch of the family, who entered eternal rest on August 18, 2025.
Born on December 24, 1936, Lolong lived a life defined by humility, kindness, and devotion to his loved ones. He was the devoted husband of Beatriz “Betty” Omay, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.
Lolong was a dedicated civil engineer whose hard work, ingenuity, and perseverance reflected his quiet strength. His career stood as a testament to his commitment to building not only structures but also lasting relationships and a strong foundation for his family.
He was a proud father to his children: Orland, Melanie, Amabelle, Yvette, Juni Rose, and in-laws Danilo, Lisa, and Mike. His influence and guidance shaped their lives, and his example of compassion, perseverance, and faith will remain with them forever.
His love extended to his grandchildren: Caitlin Faith, FG, JR, and Liza Mae. They will always remember their grandfather’s gentle smile, warm presence, and the special bond they shared with him.
Lolong found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved traveling, cruising, fishing, and cooking, always bringing his sense of adventure and generosity to each experience. Whether preparing a meal, casting a line by the water, or embarking on a journey, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.
Above all, Gregorio “Lolong” Omay Jr. will be remembered as a gentle and humble man who loved to help others. His kindness, generosity, and quiet strength will remain an inspiration for all who knew him.
He leaves behind a family forever grateful for his love and guidance, and a legacy of devotion and humility that will endure for generations.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Union Funeral Home, 1600 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. Cremation will be private.
