Hazel Oliver

Hazel Oliver, 93, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Peaceful and Sweet in the morning of  May 27, 2020  Hazel Oliver Holmes,  “Sista”,  Passed with peace and grace.  Hazel was born in Egypt, Georgia 1926. She came to Jersey City during the great migration in 1942, she Married Frederick A. Oliver (deceased), Divorced and married Willie Holmes (deceased).   Hazel was a longtime resident of Gardner Avenue. She could be seen on hot summer days sitting on her front porch talking to all who cared to share a story.  Born to Sidney and Lucy Hayes (deceased), Predeceased by her brother Elijah Hayes and her loving son George Allen Oliver.  Survived by son Robert Michael Oliver, Glen Madden who she loved as her son and her daughter Susan Oliver Phipps and her best friend Joseph S. Phipps.   She also leaves behind with love, grandsons Shannon Michael Oliver, Asher Oliver Phipps, Seth Joseph Phipps and her loving granddaughter Dylan Patricia Oliver, great grandchildren, Mia, Valentina and Isiah Oliver.  Her much loved nieces and nephews Darryl (deceased), Cheryl (deceased), Meryl, Jeryl and Darnell Hayes and a host of loving family and friends. Hazel will rest in eternal love. She will be remembered as a Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.

Due to the global pandemic and CDC guidelines, services for Hazel were held privately. A Memorial will be planned at a later date.
