Hilda Burgos was born on November 4, 1937 and passed away on February 27, 2023. Hilda was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and grew up in Bogota and Cali, Colombia. In Colombia, she studied Commerce and taught secretarial skills. She moved to New York City in the mid 1960s. She worked at El Diario, La Prensa, the oldest Spanish language newspaper in the United States as a bookkeeper in New York City. She worked at El Diario, La Prensa until her retirement. Hilda moved from New York City to New Jersey with her family in the early 1970s. She lived in Teaneck and Weehawken, NJ. She was an independent woman who was ahead of her time. She was passionate about traveling and visited many countries throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East accompanied by her daughter Aimee. She was an indomitable spirit who even traveled to the Holy Land in 2019 while in a wheelchair. She loved to read, listen to Beethoven and cuddle with her cats in her free time.
Hilda is survived by her daughter Aimee Sinclair, her sister Astrid Manjarres and brother, Edmundo Ramirez as well as her nieces and nephews; Carol Manjarres, Isabel Torres, Art Ramirez, Armando Ramirez, Patricia Adams and Great- nieces, Jocelyn Mullen, Chloe Ramirez and Great-nephews: Frankie Torres, Christian Torres, Max Ramirez and Sam Ramirez.
Visitation is Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City.
