Joanne Oziemblo, humble servant of the Lord and devoted relative, friend, and parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, entered eternal life on January 5, 2025. Joanne lived a life of unconditional love, service, and simplicity, especially within her family, circle of friends, church, schools, and community. She was an honest soul who gave it her all. She loved what she did and all those who did those things with her, because she viewed it as a gift from and to God.
Joanne was a highly regarded educator. Students and colleagues appreciated her compassion, curiosity and joyful disposition. She blended academic integrity with concern for fellow souls, managing to inspire countless people. One of her former students said it best when told of her passing, “Oh wow, heaven got one of the great ones.”
Her friends knew if anyone needed to go grocery shopping, a shoulder to lean on, or Holy Communion to be brought to a home, Joanne always, always did her best to help. She was unselfish and adored by those whose lives she touched.
Joanne began her career as a classroom teacher, and then she became principal of two Catholic schools. After retiring from education, she returned to her beloved Our Lady of Mount Carmel as parish administrator and religious education director. Back at the parish, she could be seen serving hot dogs and hamburgers at the Mount Carmel feast, assisting at Mass as a lector and/or eucharistic minister, overseeing the senior club, and leading a Girl Scout troop. She enriched and blessed the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her brother Walter, nieces Kelly and Kate, a great-niece Jane, cousins Stephen and Yraida Lipski, dear friends Dorry, Kathy, MaryAnn, Pat and countless other relatives, friends, and students.
