John David Kerr, 62, a lifelong resident of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on April 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a graduate of St. Nicholas Grammar School (1973) and Hudson Catholic High School (1977). Upon graduating high school, he started his career at Jewel Electric in Jersey City, where he was employed up until recently. An avid sports fan, John’s loyalty to the New York Rangers was legendary. He held season tickets for over 40 years and in that time, he only missed 8 games. In addition, he was a diehard Mets and Giants fan.
He is predeceased by his mother Joan (nee Curran) and father Charles Kerr. He was the beloved husband of Susan Kerr (nee Wilson), loving father of Kristan & Kerri Kerr and her fiancé Michael Martinez, dear brother of Charles Kerr and wife Valarie, Karen Kerr and her fiancé Robert Cavall. John leaves behind multiple in-laws who all considered him their brother, especially his lifelong friend, James Lonnay.
He was a cherished uncle to a host of adoring nieces and nephews, as well as, great nieces and nephews. He was also a father-figure to many of his daughters’ friends. He never missed a birthday, holiday, or special event in any of their lives. He made sure to be present for every milestone.
He leaves behind many heartbroken neighbors, friends and his beloved work family at Jewel Electric, where he was highly respected and loved by colleagues, clients and supervisors alike. He was known for his dedication, knowledge and hard work.
John David will be sorely missed by many. He was a friend to all and he will always be remembered for his supportive nature, kindness, generosity, but mostly his uniquely awesome sense of humor, and outrageously funny stories. We all lost such a beautiful soul.
"Let's Go Rangers!"
