John Loughlin

John Loughlin, age 76, of Jersey City; entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 2, 2025.  John will be remembered for his wonderful life, and having made many extraordinary memories.  His family and friends will remember him for being a drummer playing in a band, where they did many gigs from weddings to special occasions, playing softball, and being an avid bowler.  His greatest accomplishment was when he scored a perfect 300 in bowling, which is something that he was very proud of.  Prior to retirement, John worked for PSE&G for 25 years.  John was also an animal lover, especially with his black Labradors, Sable and Mina.   

Although John loved to spend his time at home watching the Yankees and 49’ers, cooking shows, and drama shows especially NCIS and Chicago PD, he enjoyed being an active member of the Moose Lodge and Elks here in Jersey City. He also thrived whenever he would listen to his music particularly the 50’s and Oldies genre.  He loved music so much that he even took happiness in seeing Broadway shows, such as the Jersey Boys.  

John is the beloved father of Elise Boterus and her fiance, Adam Rhoads; adored grandfather of Russel and Brayden; treasured life partner of Gabriele Rayes and their son, Michael; cherished son of the late, Matthew and Muriel; beloved brother of Richard and his wife, Mariann; and nieces and nephews, Dana, Daria, Jenna, Jordan, Madeleine, Aurora. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. 

Visitation is Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306.  (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street).  A prayer service will take place during visitation.  Cremation will be private.
