John Mari, a lifelong resident of Bayonne, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. He was born on March 2, 1954 in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late Paul and Eleanor (née Yiengst) Mari.
John proudly served his country as a United States Marine and later continued his service as a member of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated over 35 years of hard work and commitment to Norton & Son’s, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.
A devoted parishioner of Global Harvest Fellowship in Bayonne, John’s faith was an important part of his life. Above all else, he was deeply passionate about his family and cherished the time he spent with them. His family will always remember John as someone who was always there for them, even taking on the role of the best older brother anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his loving siblings, James and his wife Mary Elizabeth, Edward and his wife Michelle, Fran, Paul, and Barbara. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Angela and her husband PJ, Lloyad, Eddie and his wife Sally, Caden, and Mikayla, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Optima Care at Harborview for the compassion, respect, and kindness shown to John during his time in their care.
Visitation is Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd. Jersey City, NJ 07306. (For GPS navigation, it is best to use our parking lot address: 14 Stagg Street). Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
